One day, while working at a fast food restaurant, a customer left her Louis Vuitton bag on the table.
After about 20 minutes, and realizing that she had already left, I decided to take the bag to the lost & found without examining inside. A month passed by.
My manager contacted me and asked, “It’s been a month… do you want that bag?”
I replied yes and went to collect it. When I eventually opened it, I was astonished to discover nothing inside but a single piece of paper.
When I unfurled the paper, I saw it was only the bag’s receipt.

The receipt included a handwritten message that read, “To the girl who needed a new purse during the holidays.”
It occurred to me that this woman had planned it all along.
I looked at the receipt: $1,700 for this bag!?
I carefully placed my possessions into it, drove home, and never mentioned anything to anyone. That purse provided me a jolt of confidence throughout numerous job interviews.
I still have the bag today. It reminds me of my lowly beginnings and drives me to help others.
